Music Ministry

“One who sings prays twice.”

Beautiful music is an essential element to the celebration of the Mass. There are many ways that one can contribute to this ministry. To participate in any of the following music ministries, please contact Colleen Ortega, Director of Music at 708-435-8926.

Cantors

Cantors are the leaders of song. They encourage and support the singing of the congregation. Adults with musical and vocal experience are encouraged to join this ministry.

Choir

The choir sings a variety of choral music at weekend Masses from September through May, as well as on major feast days. Adults and high school aged students are welcome to join the choir.

Contemporary Choir

An ensemble of voices and instruments provides a contemporary style of music for the weekend liturgy. The choir welcomes high school age students and adults.

Children's Choir

School age children are encouraged to be a part of one of the children’s choirs. Children in grades 1-4 can join the Cherub Choir; the Seraphim Choir is for children in grades 5-8. The choirs sing at the monthly Family Mass (October – May) and on Christmas Eve.

Resurrection Choir

This group of adults offers a special service through music to those in mourning by gathering to sing at Funeral Masses.

Handbell Choir

High school age students and adults are invited to learn to ring specially arranged hymns and other sacred and classical music at seasonal feasts and other parish masses. A children’s hand bell choir is being considered for grades 5-8.

Instrumentalists

Do you play a musical instrument (flute, violin, trumpet, etc.) and want to share your talent with the parish?  Contact the parish music director to participate at one of our liturgies.
